TFL is airing public service announcements (PSAs) on television to educate Louisiana residents about the health dangers associated with secondhand smoke and to help smokers who wish to quit.

Our current television messages feature a secondhand smoke genie’ that rises out of a cigarette to grant a wish to non-smokers. Unfortunately the only thing the genie can offer is lung cancer, heart disease and a shortened life span.

We are also airing television images to promote the availability of free services to help smokers quit. The Louisiana Tobacco Quitline uses ‘finger people’ in everyday situations that smokers may face. These messages are often humorous but contain valuable information for persons serious about quitting.

For the start of the new year, TFL created a television message that recognized the communities that have established clean indoor air ordinances. This is a important step to making Louisiana tobacco-free to protect the health of everyone in the state.
